I put my truck in storage with American Way in Mattoon about 2 month ago. It was a bit different from other storages places, as it's primarily done online/virtual. I called and voiced my concern about wanting to see a unit before making a commitment. No sooner did I hang up, and Gary pulled in. We looked at 2 units/2 locations. The first one wasn't long enough for my truck. The 2nd was .... perfect and in a gated area. Gary was EXTREMELY helpful. He really went beyond, and I truly appreciated it. TRULY.

I noticed that most of the units had a very secure looking round lock. Gary advised that those are perhaps the most secure. I'm not from the area so I asked where I might buy one. Rural King had them. UNFORTUNATELY I didn't open the packaging until the next morning .... before needing to catch a train about a 20 minute walk from the storage unit. My mistake was NOT wrestling with the pkging the night before. I finally got it open ... but I could not open the lock. I had to catch that train. Gary said that he would figure it out. It's always a delight when someone like Gary comes along and helps. It's a well-built storage unit, clean and a secure gate to the units. I whole-heartedly recommend American Way.

Closing out my account was very simple, and they were honest. I called (VM) to let them know that I was done with the unit, and to take my monthly payment off auto-pay. She asked me to take a photo of the unit. Photos showed it empty and clean. That's all she needed to close my account. Simple. Honest.

I stored my truck in Montana for a year. They required a $25 deposit. I swept the unit out after removing my truck because it was winter so my truck tires brought in salt, mud, etc. Plus it's an old truck. It leaked engine oil so I put cardboard on the floor. Used oil dry for oil on the floor. Swept it all into a box. Disposed of it. I live in Texas. He kept the deposit. I surmise because he knew it wasn't worth my effort to get my $25. He had Google reviews with that complaint. Pathetic.

I did NOT deal with any games with American Storage. I appreciate that and EASILY RECOMMEND THEM.

Very easy and smooth rental process unit was also clean and easily accessible! Love the gated access as well! It gives me an added sense of security.

I've never had any troubles with American Way Storage. They're very friendly and nice. I highly recommend them if you need a storage unit.
